New Laser Gum Treatment
What is Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure?
LASER ASSISTED NEW ATTACHMENT PROCEDURE, LANAP, is a patented, FDA approved non-surgical laser alternative to cut and suture gum surgery. It is a less painful, less traumatic way to treat periodontal disease at any stage, with the purpose of restoring lost bone and attachment.
Our office is the first practice in Miami to use this laser surgical procedure which has been approved by the FDA for treating gum disease. In fact, this is the only dental device which has received multiple levels of FDA clearance in the treatment of periodontal disease.
This Nd:YAG laser has been used for over 20 years in medicine for various purposes. Applied to periodontal treatment, the laser has proven extremely effective:
- Stops the infection
- Eliminates bacteria for healing
- Pocket reduction as good as conventional treatments
- Better maintenance of results over time
And, because the laser is very selective in its effects:
No Use of scalpel
No Stitches
Minimal to No post operative Bleeding
Minimal to No Swelling
Minimal or No Pain
Minimal to No Gum Recession
Minimal to No Tooth Sensitivity
Little to No lost time from work
Laser periodontal treatment has proven to be extremely effective for most patients without the drawbacks of conventional surgical treatment.
